Henry van der Sloot portrait

Henry van der Sloot, CA, CFA

Chief Executive Officer

Henry is a founder, director and CEO of Strad Energy Services. In addition, he is currently an advisory board member of Network Capital Limited Partnerships and a board member of several private and non-profit enterprises. Henry is a past CEO of Banff Caribou Properties Ltd. and Managing Director of Network Capital Inc.

Henry is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Financial Analyst and is an alumni of the Harvard Business School.

Prior to becoming a businessman, Henry was a concert cellist. He completed his music studies at the Juilliard School of Music in New York and has performed extensively throughout Canada, the US, Europe and Russia.

Andy Pernal portrait

Andy Pernal, CA

President

Andy holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Manitoba and is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years of senior financial experience in private and public companies. In spring 2009, Andy moved from Chief Financial Officer of Strad Energy Services into the role of President and became a member of the Strad board.

Prior to joining Strad, Andy held positions as Chief Financial Officer of Stone Creek Properties and Chief Financial Officer of Craig Media. He spent 8 years with Moffat Communications in Winnipeg in various senior financial capacities including Chief Financial Officer prior to its sale to Shaw Communications in 2001. Andy was also Vice President, Finance of MTS Communications (Manitoba Telecom’s largest operating subsidiary). Prior to his experience in industry, Andy spent 9 years in public accounting primarily with Deloitte & Touche in Winnipeg.

Andy has also been involved with various community and charitable organizations including Christ the King School in Winnipeg, Western Canada Aviation Museum and the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba. Currently, Andy is Chairman of the board of Clear Water Academy, a private school in Calgary.

Rob Granfield portrait

Rob Grandfield

Chief Operating Officer

Rob is a founder, director and COO of Strad Energy Services and has spent the past 30 years in various energy service operations. Prior to starting Strad, Rob was a co-founder and COO of Jiro Oilfield Supply Ltd. and following that he was the co-founder and President of Jiro Manufacturing and Compression. In 1999, Jiro sold to Enhanced Energy Services and Rob served as COO and Director and then continued on in the role of Vice President of Compression when the company sold to Enerflex. During this period from 1988 – 2002, the annual company sales grew from 2 million to over 250 million.

In 2003, Rob was a co-founder and a Board Member of Root Exploration Ltd. until the company sold to Scollard Energy Inc. in 2006. Rob is active in a variety of private investment companies and private real estate investment companies. In addition to this he has also been a director of several local community organizations.

Byron Johnson

Byron Johnson, CMA

Chief Financial Officer

Byron joined Strad in early 2010, and brings to the company over 20 years of progressive senior level financial and accounting experience in public and private companies, the majority dedicated to the oil and gas service industry. Most recently he was the Vice President of Finance at Toromont Energy Systems Inc. and previously was Corporate Controller and Treasurer at Precision Drilling Corporation. Byron has helped expanding domestic and international focused companies grow successfully; and is a past director of Aspen Family Services, Calgary’s largest family service agency.

Byron graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a specialization in Economics, and today is a Certified Management Accountant.

Doran Oancia

Doran Oancia, MBA

President, Strad Energy Services USA

Doran holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Great Distinction) degree from the University of Saskatchewan, as well as a Master of Business Administration (With Distinction) degree from the Edinburgh Business School.

Doran joined Strad in 2006 as Vice-President, Integration, where he led the integration of several acquired companies as part of Strad’s “One Company” Initiative. In 2008, Doran was named Vice-President, Operations, focusing on the development of Strad’s Drilling Services operations. In 2009, Doran was named President of Strad Energy Services USA in Denver, Colorado, which began operations in late 2008.

Prior to moving into the energy sector, Doran spent 15 years in various senior finance, sales, business planning and marketing roles in the manufacturing and financial services industries. His tenure includes progressive leadership roles at four Fortune 500 companies. Doran has received numerous awards for leadership and business results throughout his career, and is active in several community initiatives.

Brady Flett

Vice President, Production Services

Brady brings over twenty years of progressive industry experience to Strad. After several years of field experience, Brady spent most of the 1980's managing the development program for Jiro Oilfield Supply, a company that was ultimately sold to C.E. Franklin. Brady went on to found Enhanced Recovery Systems in Athabasca where he, in part with Jiro Manufacturing, developed natural gas applications for screw compression technologies.

In 1994, Brady moved back to his hometown of Stettler, where he assumed a senior management role with Jiro Manufacturing. Through a series of acquisitions, Jiro was ultimately acquired by Enerflex Systems, where Brady established himself as a senior leader until fall 2003.

After working for a year as a consultant with Canadian Natural Resources, Brady joined CH4 Compression Services (which evolved to Strad Compression and Production Services) as President and General Manager. In December 2008, Brady assumed the Strad leadership role as Vice-President for the Production Services division.
